EMIE European network, gathering all organizations and players from civil society concerned with non-state (independent, private) education, organized last January its annual meeting in Brussels. The purpose of such a meeting is to enhance communication and to share good practices from European stakeholders. All are committed to advocating Freedom of Education as a fundamental right of the citizens of the European Union and of the rest of Europe. This year, the EMIE organisations decided to set up a group of friends for Freedom of Education within the European Parliament to promote a freedom based approach to ET 2020.
In the afternoon of the same day a hearing was organized by Andrew Lewer (ECR) and Nuno Melo (EPP), members of the European Parliament, on the importance of autonomy and school choice to improve the education systems.
